To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, we kindly ask you to carefully read the following terms and conditions.

We pride ourselves on creating personalized tours and delivering top-notch service for your Cusco adventures. Please be aware that travel in Peru, particularly in the Cusco region, including accommodation, transportation, and services, may not always meet the standards you are used to. However, we are committed to providing the best possible service with diligence and expertise. Traveling in Cusco requires a flexible and patient attitude, an open mind, a sense of humor, and understanding that unforeseen changes can occur without prior notice due to circumstances beyond our control. These can include strikes, protests, landslides, or adverse weather (Force Majeure). By booking a tour with us, you agree to allow Choquequirao Experiences to make necessary adjustments without being held liable.
FORCE MAJEURE
“Force Majeure” refers to any event that Choquequirao Experiences could not reasonably foresee, control, or prevent, even with the utmost care. This includes, but is not limited to, war, threats of war, riots, civil unrest, terrorism, labor disputes, epidemics, natural disasters, severe weather, fires, or any similar events outside of our influence, especially common in the Cusco region. In such cases, Choquequirao Experiences cannot accept responsibility or liability and reserves the right to modify, postpone, or even cancel trips. Cancellation is always a last resort.
Additional Costs Due to Protests or Strikes (Force Majeure)
Protests and strikes are relatively common occurrences, particularly in the Cusco region. Should such events arise, it may become necessary to adjust your itinerary, potentially requiring us to depart a day or two earlier than originally planned to ensure we can fulfill subsequent services. Depending on the specific situation, this may result in an additional charge.
RISKS
By reserving any of our adventure tours in Cusco, including the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Lares Trek, Salkantay Trek, Ausangate Trek, Choquequirao Trek, Vilcabamba Trek, and others, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with adventure travel in the Andes. These risks include personal accidents, medical emergencies, and travel disruptions. Choquequirao Experiences cannot be held responsible for these types of incidents on these treks.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
We strongly recommend that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance before your trip to Cusco. Your policy should cover accidents, medical expenses (including emergency evacuation and air ambulance services), and repatriation. We also advise that it includes coverage for trip cancellations and lost luggage. You can use online travel insurance comparison websites to explore and compare various plans and find the best coverage for your individual needs.
Once you have purchased travel insurance, please send us a copy of your insurance provider name and policy number via email, or bring this information with you when you visit our office in Cusco.
HOLIDAY AND ELECTION SURCHARGES
A supplementary charge of $35 USD per person will apply to all treks (regardless of group type, private option, or group size) commencing on the following dates:
An additional charge will also be levied if a trek departs during Peruvian election days, as voting is mandatory and subject to fines in Peru.
These surcharges are used to provide bonuses to our staff for working during holidays or to cover fines for staff who are unable to vote due to work commitments.
PRIMARY AND BACKUP DEPARTURE DATES
When you provide us with a primary and secondary date for your Cusco trek (such as the Classic Inca Trail, Lares, Salkantay, Machu Picchu Tours, Choquequirao, etc.), you automatically authorize Choquequirao Experiences to use either of these dates for your booking. After we receive your booking form and confirm your deposit, Choquequirao Experiences will send you a final confirmation email specifying your exact trek departure date. You should receive this confirmation within 48 hours.
PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR BOOKINGS
Please ensure that the passport number and all other personal details you provide are accurate and valid. If your passport number changes after booking, please inform us immediately. This is crucial, especially for treks or tours to Machu Picchu.
STUDENT DISCOUNTS
According to Peruvian law, student discounts apply to individuals under 18 years of age at the time of their trek, tour, or Machu Picchu visit. Students aged 18 and above require a valid ISIC card to qualify for a discount. For example, if you book a trek at 17 but turn 18 before the trek date, you will not be eligible for a student discount.
All students must provide a copy of their passport at the time of booking to receive the student discount. Please send a copy to (Your Email Address).
RESERVATIONS AND DEPOSITS
To reserve a tour or trek with Choquequirao Experiences, a non-refundable deposit of US$200 per person is required. Deposits can be made via PayPal or VISA, subject to a 5.5% processing fee charged by PayPal or VISA, which the traveler will cover. By making a reservation, regardless of the method used, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
Your reservation becomes final on the date Choquequirao Experiences receives your deposit. Upon deposit receipt, a binding contract is established between you and Choquequirao Experiences.
All individuals named in the reservation are bound by this contract with Choquequirao Experiences. The person making the reservation confirms that they have the authority to act on behalf of all individuals included and that everyone is aware of and accepts these Terms and Conditions.
We require the non-refundable deposit and your personal details (full name, passport number, gender, nationality, and date of birth) at the time of booking.
FINAL PAYMENT TERMS
The remaining balance is due and payable at our office in Cusco at least 2 days before your tour departure date. Alternatively, you can pay the balance in advance via PayPal or VISA, again with a 5.5% processing fee. Please inform us if you plan to pay via PayPal or Visa. In our office, we accept both US Dollars and Peruvian Soles in any denomination, provided bills are not torn. If you are unable to arrive in Cusco 2 days before your tour, please arrange payment with the Choquequirao Experiences team prior to your arrival.
CANCELLATION POLICY FOR CUSCO TREKS & TOURS
CLIENT-INITIATED CHANGES
Only the person who made the original reservation can request changes to a tour, trek, or any trip. A $35 USD fee applies to each change request. While we will do our best to accommodate requested changes, they are not guaranteed and may incur additional costs.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Inca Trail permits are strictly non-changeable, non-transferable, and non-refundable. Departure dates cannot be altered due to government regulations.
CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS BY CHOQUEQUIRAO EXPERIENCES
We are committed to operating tours and services according to the original schedules outlined in your reservation. However, by agreeing to these terms, you acknowledge and accept that modifications may be necessary due to unforeseen circumstances in the Cusco region (refer to the “Force Majeure” section above).
Choquequirao Experiences reserves the right to modify or cancel any facilities, services, or itineraries, substituting them with reasonable alternatives of comparable value.
In the event of a significant change, you will be informed as soon as possible, and you will have options regarding accepting the change.
VERY IMPORTANT HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS:
We strongly advise you to spend at least 2-4 days in Cusco (above 3000 meters / 9842 feet) before commencing your trip. This is crucial to minimize the potential effects of altitude sickness. Staying well-hydrated, consuming sugary drinks and carbohydrate-rich foods, avoiding smoking and alcohol, and drinking coca tea (a traditional Andean remedy) can aid acclimatization. Diamox may also be helpful – please consult your doctor about obtaining medications before traveling.
VERY IMPORTANT PRE-TREK ARRIVAL:
We recommend arriving in Cusco 48 hours or more before your trek departure. This provides a buffer in case we need to depart earlier than scheduled due to strikes or other unforeseen events (see “Force Majeure” section).
ABOUT THE PRE-TREK BRIEFING:
The night before your trek, a pre-trek briefing will be held in our office in Cusco at either 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM (the exact time will be confirmed upon your arrival or via email). If you have rented a sleeping bag and paid for porter service, your duffel bag and sleeping bag will be provided at this briefing.
Please review our packing checklist before attending the briefing to ensure you have all necessary items for your Cusco trek or tour.
Thank you again for choosing us! We look forward to welcoming you to Cusco!
Sincerely,
The Choquequirao Experiences Team!
